Complete Agreement Reached WAGES AND HOURS j DUNEDIN, Last Night. ' In the Arbitration Couxt, Mr. Justice ' Page and Messrs. A. L. Monteith. and j W. Cecil Prime, made an award at the I sitting to-day covering workers in injsurance offlces in the Dominion. . Mr. P. J. Doogan, who appeared for. the employees, said that a complete . agreement had been reached at the ConI* eiliation Couneil but he wopld like an | amendment to the holiday clause so | that where Anniversary Day 'vas not: ' observed as a statutory holiday jt couldj | be left to the parties to allot another1 | day. j Mr. A. S. Cookson, who appeared forj • the employers, said he was agreeablel and his Honour said that the decessary] clauso would be inserted in the tvfrard.: It was agreed that the clause rhould; take this form: "In any loeality where i any of the abovo holidays is not gener-' | ally observed another holiday may be j substituted by mutual arrangement be-t ,tween the employers and the uniou," The award shall apply to all members of the indoor clerieai stafE and inspectors who are in receipt of £450 per annum or less. Industrial {...perintendents shall be paid not less than £5 i>er week by way of salary, commission ,and/or other paymeut3, arid shall be allowed an annual holiday as pre3cribed, in the award. The wages are: — , Males: Pirst six m,onths, £29; sccQnd,' ,£36; third, £41 4s; fourth, £46 8s; iifth,, £51 12s; sixth, £56 16s; fourth year,j £130; iifth, £155; sixth, £180; seventh,, £210; eighth, £230; ninth, £255; tenth,; £280; eleventh, £295; twelftll, £31C;' thirteenth, £325. Provided That a worker of 21 years or upwards shall rcceive not less than £3 16s per week. Pemales: Pirst six moaths, £29; second, £36; third, £41 4s; fourth, £46 •8s; iifth, £51 12s; sixth, £56 16s; fourth year, £130; iifth, £145; fixth, £160. Provided that a worker of 21 years or upwards shall receive not less than £1 16a per week. Female clerks in the life of&ca and industrial departments: First six.. months, £23 8s; second, £23 12s; third, £33 16s; fourth, £39; flfth, £44 4s; sixth, £49 8s; fourth year, £115; fitth, £125; sixth, £135. The normal working week sh&U be Monday to I'riday inclusive ai 1 the total hours worked shall not exceed 37J except that iu special cases an eni' ployee may be required to work a greatj er number of total hours but ngt ex* ceeding 40 without payment of overtime. Overtime: All hours worked in exCess 'of 40 hours per week shall De regarded as overtime and be paid for at the late of time and a half for the firat four hours on any oue day and doublo timo thereafter, The award is to operate throughout the Northern, Taranaki, Wellington; Hawke's Bay, Nelson, Westland, CanterbuTy and Otago and Southland industrial districts and is to romaia in forco from March 1, 1937, to Februaryi 28, 1938.
