CHEISTCHUECH, Lalst Night. A snggestion that ticensed winemakers in Taranaki produced two qualities of wine, medium strength for the general public and something a little more loaded for dancers, was made at the annual meeting of the Federation of the Justices of the Peace Association this morning. The Taranaki association proposed the following xemit: "To limit on a population basis the number (at present unlimited) of wine makers' licencos which may be issued under the Licensing Amendment Act, 1914, iH any given district." The remit wafs lost. "There. are a great many blackberries in Taranaki and much of the *friut is converted into wine, which is supplied to anybody and everybody," said Mr J. A. Valentine, in moving the remit. He declared that wine could be / procured at ony time for night levels and the result was seen in motor ea*, and cycle accidents* Mr W. C. Weston (Taranaki) said * that he had heard of catees where publicans refnsed to supply liquor for dances, and the people then went to wine-makers fpr suppE.es. "I have been told that soinetimes there are two qualities of wine — medium strength for the general public and something a little more loaded for the dancers," he added. Scott (Otago) said it was a job for the police and not the. business of the federation. Mr C. Wheeler (Auckland)' said that blackberry was a noxioute weed. He considered that it would be snfficient to report the. matter to the Government inspector of noxions weeds, so that he could take aetion. • The xemit was lost on the voices. •
