WATKINS SHIELD
Won by Havelock North
On Thursday, the Watkins Challenge Shield again changed hands. The challengers were teams from the Havelock North Club. Games jyere keenly contested on the Nelson Park greens, Napier. The lawns were extremely heavy on account of rain overnight. The Havelock players were enterfcained to lunch and afternoon tea by membera of the United Club. Details of scores are as follbw : — A-grade — Mesdames Wilson and Heenan heat Mesdames Tiffen and Fraeer, 18—26, 26—6. b-grade.— Mesdameg Rose and Meads heat Mesdames Sheppard and Bishop, 26—25, 17—26. Mre Evans (captain of TJnited) presented tbe shield to the Havelock captain (Mrs Ferg|uson) and oongratulated her on her team's play for the day. Mrs Logan, president of the Hawke's Bay Association, added her congtatulations and wished the memhers many pleasant games in defending the shield in the near future. Challenges were received immediately from both Napier and Port Ahuriri Club®.
