A DANGER TO LABOUR
(By Telegxaph-
AUCKLAND, This day. "These frequent outbursts of Mr. Semple we consider to be a danger to the unity of Labour 's forcea and are typical of a Fascist demagogue," states a strongly-worded resolution earried by the Auckland Builders' 'and General Labourers' 'Union, at a meeting last evening. "This union," the resolution states, "views with concern the utteranees of the Hou. Mr. Semple in .dictating to the workers in Public Woi'ks campa fche classes of literature they shall read and diseuss in their social halls, restricting particulariy such matter that is of _an advanced radical nature. We consider such au attitude to be an attack on the democratic rights of free.dom of speech and assembly, one of the basic prineiples of labour. j "Further, Mr. Semple does not appear to be consistent, as he claims for himself the right to use whatever language he chooses in expressing freely his own opinions, whilst at the same time, denying that xight to the Tank and file workers who are the real labour movernent ia this country. These frequent outbursts we consider to be a danger to the unity of Labour 's forces and are typical of a Fascist demagogue. We call upon the Labour movernent and the Government to exereise disciplinary measures against any of its membors who, by -such statements, are bringing discredit and (Ha unity to Labour 's; ranks." i ■ i » i i l1 I 1 1 II 111 i A t lAttxAAA A A A AA AAAAAAAAAAA
