Intense Strain Complained of by Allen MELBOURNE, March % *At a luncheon at the Melbourne erio ket ground, G. 0. B. Allen said that the strain of the tour had killed him ae a ericketer. The president of the Victorian Cricket Association, Canon Hughes, raade presentations to Allen and the managef Mr Howard,Responding, Allen made mention oi ihe "great kindness" which" tbe team had experienced in Australia, and added: "However, without wishing to make excuses there is one thing I would lik© to eay. I -do think that a captain should be protected against all the intense strain of the tour. I have been hard-worked. If you look at the recorda of English captains in Australia you will find that every one has been a fiop, but I am very grateful for all the Jdndness. even if it has killed me as a ericketer."
