Mr J. Harrison, Napier, is visiting Wanganui. The Rev. R. B. Gosnell, of Hastings, who has been attending the annual conference of the Methouist Churefl of New Zealand in Auckland, raturne.d liome yesterday afternoon. Mr R. A. Douglas, of Auckland, was the successful candidate this year for the accountancy echolarship presented ty the Ineorporated Society of Accountants of New Zealand. Mr W. A. Cowell. Government Milk Scheme ofiicer, of Wellington, who has been visiting Hastings and Napier, returned to Wellington by the mail train this morning. Sergfeant-Major J. Stitchbury, Gisborne, has replaced in the New Zealand Coronation contingent, Sergeant-Major A. Mathieson, Timaru, who was unaole to travel for family reasons. Sir Harry Lauder arrived at Wellington by the Awatea from Sydney yesterday and will spend some weeks in tlie Dominion visiting friends in both islantts and fishing at Tongariro and elsewhere. Professors J. Rankine Brown, W. H. Gould (Wellington), R. Lawson and J. B. Dawson (Dunedin) returned to New Zealand by the Awatea yesterday after attending the universities conference at Adelaide. Dr. J. Dickie, principal of Presbyterian Theological College, Dunedin, arrived at Wellington from Sydney by the Awatea yesterday. Dr. Dickie, who has been on a visit to the United StateB of America, Great Britain and Europe, left for the south last night. Squadron-Leader T. _W. White, of East Coast Airways, who has been undergoing a refresher course at Wigram aeroarome, returned to Gisborne during the week-end, and will resumo duty next week. He is being relieved i>y Mr H. Brownjohn, of Union Airways. The Rev. and Mrs F. De Lisle, of Auckland, passed through Napier today ,en route for Wellington, to attend the Congregational Congress. Mr Do Lisle, who was once treasurer of the Napier Amateur Athletic and Cycliug Olub, is still a keen supporter of athletics, and is a prominent flgure on the at-hletic grounds of Auckland. Mr Lachlan McLachlan, a former New Zealand mile amateur athletic cliampion, who has for some months been stationed at Napier, has been transferred to the Wellington branch of the business in which he is engaged, Mr McLachlan ;s departure will be a uistinct loss to amateur athletics in Napier. Mr C. J. Harris, who has been transferred by the Dominion executive of the l'"armeivs ' Union from Taranaki as area officer for Hawke 's Bay, has left • for the East Coast. Mr Harris has been in his present position in Taranaki, for about 18 months. Previous to that he was engaged in farming at Oakura for 15 years. He took up land there on his return from war serviee, prior to which be was fafining in the district north of Waitara.
