CARRICKMACROSS LACE VEIL WORN WITH GOWN OF PALE IVORY SATIN
GATENBY— SIMSON WEDDING A colour scheme of pate ivory for the bride and her maids was carried out with charming effect at the wedding last evening of Bonnie Petrie, younger daughter of Mr and Mrs H. Ian Simson, Havelock North, and Thomas Arthur, only son of Mr and Mrs J. J. Gatenby, Tiromoana, Te Awauga. The Rev. Mr Weymouth ofificiated at the ceremony at tit. Luke 's Church, Havelock North. When the bride entered the church with her father she looked very lovely in her gown of ivory faille teatin fashioned very simpiy. The neckline was cut square in front and the skirt was joined at the waist in a half moon shape with very slight gathers. The long sleeves had a little fullness at the shoulders and the train was inset with a point from the waist. Her beautiful Carrickmacross lace veil, lent by Mrs J. J. Gatenby, which formed a second train, was arranged with a small halo of orange blossom to fall over her face when entering the church and was later thrown .back. She carried white marguerite daisies, blue cornflowers, red carnations and begoriias arranged with the effect of a natural bunch. Three maids attended the bride and these were Miss Enid Cotterjjl (chief), and the bride 's two nieces, Elisabeth and Betty Ann Simson. Their gowns were of ivory stiffened net mounted on taffeta in the same shade. The skirts were very full and finishing the square neck was a pleated frill of net forming an oval shape in front. With these gowns were worn coatees of taffeta cut away in front and tied with a bow at the waist while the back was shaped with the new flared basque effect. The youngest maid, Betty Ann Simson, who carried the bride 's train, wore a frock which was a replica of the older maids' but was finished at the neck with a Toby frill of pleated net. All three maids carried .bunches of cornflowers, marguerite daisies and red carnations and begonias with sprays of maidenhair f ern and each wore a tiny posy of marguerites in her hair. The dutiea of best man were carried out by Mr Jock MacKenzie and the ushers were Messrs David Neilsop and Russell Hobbs. After the ceremony a reception was held at the home of Mr and Mrs Ian L. Simson, Havelock North, where relatives and very close friends were received by Mr and Mrs H. Ian Simson and Mr and Mrs J. J. Gatenby. Mrs Simson wore a model gown of fuchsia gecrgette with cape sleeves finely pleated and panelled skirt. She wore a black toque with eye veil and a corsage spray of pink begonias and maidenhair f ern. Mrs J. J. Gatenby 's trained gown was of black and gold lame with square neckline;. and the corsage fiaishioneE with a cape effect. She wore a short bJack satin coa{ and small black hat of lulle and crinoline straw. Her corsage posy was of apricot shaded begonias, miniature fuchsia and fern. The reception was a very jolly one with numerous toasts and kspeechea Mr Oscar Krogh proposed the toast to the .bride and bridegroom, to which the bridegroom replied and proposed a toafct to the bridesmaids. The best man,'Mr J ock MacKenzie, answered this toast. The toast to the parents of the bride and bridegroom was proposed by Mr A. I. Rainbow and in a witty and amusing s-peech Mr H. Ian Simson replied. When the bride and bridegroom left for their honeymoon the bride travelled in a model suit of raspberry marocain with small round collar and covered buttons finishing the jumper in front. The sleeves were short and the waist finished with a pleated basque. Mrs Ian L. Simson wore a gown pf floral silk in vivid shades on a white background and a short coatee of fiank musquash fur. Among the guests were: Mr and Mrs Maclcie, Wellington, the latter being the bride 's sister, Mrs Mackie wore a gown of black eotelle with pink roses ou the corsage. Mr and Mrs E. Ormond, the bridegroom 's sister and brother-in-law, Mrs Ormond wearing a gown of brocade with frill of pink georgette edging the corsage and matching godets in the skirt. Her coatee of the same material was edged with narrow bands of sable. Mr and Mrs Kauru Simson, brother and sister-in-law of the bride, Mra Simson wearing black cloque with cutaway back, high collar of silver lame and buttons down the front, also of silver.
