TWO FURTHER EVENTS
Two events were omitted irom the report which appeared last evening of the Hawke's Bay-Poverty Bay Athletic Centre' s annual championships held at McLean Park, Napier, on Saturday. In oue oi these, the 221) yards hurdles championship, Frank Sharpley, New Zealand title lxolder for the distanco was successful in lowering the New Zealand record by 2-5sec. As a vslight breeze assisted him in the straight, however, the record will not be claimed. Following are the events:— 220 YARDS HURDLES CHAMPIONSHIP. F. SHARPLEY (H) 1 E. Phillips (N) 2 V". McCutcheon (N) 3 Time, 25secs. Sharpley won easily by 10 yards. DISCUS THROW CHAMPIONSHIP E. PHILLIPS (N) 114ft. 2ins. 1 G. Allingham (H) 105ft. lin. ... 2 * It. Johnson (N,) 86ft. 3jin. ...... 3 Pliillips extended the centre record by 1ft. lOins.
