Mrs Speedy, wearing a distinctive gown in black ninon relieved with a natural shoulder-spray, assisted her daughter ; aiso her sister, Mrs Samson, who wore a fashionably cut gown in lienna elephant cloque. Tbg reception hail, clrawing room and dining room were attraetively decorated with big bowls of summer blooms and autumn leaves. Bridge was played in the drawing room and piug poug in the diniug-room, wliile tlie big kitchen was a popular rendezvous ior other card games. During supper, the opportunity was taken to farewell the popular guest oi honour and ihe singing of "For He's a Jolly Good Fellow" and "Auld Lang Syue", brought a very jolly evening to a close.
