, » WELLINGTON, Last Night. "The German people appeared to be peaceful and happy," said Mr R. G. Kain, a Wellington businessman on his retum by the Arawa from a visit abroad. Germany seemed to he very happy nnder Herr Hitler despite the restriction on export trade by reason of shorfcage of credits. The people were all very loyal to Herr Hitler, and the last thing they wanted was war. On the other hand, they felt that if they were to remain as they were they must have access to Yaw materials, and other countries must eventually realise that those raw materials will have to be made available by some means or other. Germany was anxious to trade with New Zealand on the barter system now operating with Australia.
