Traveller Inioxicated When in Charge oi Car Fourteen days in gaol for belng intoxicated in charge of a motor-car was the penalty inflieted on William Neil FuUer, of Karori, traveller, in the Napier Magletrate 's Court yesterday morning. The prosecution followed a collision in Dalton ,street, Napier, and although Mr. J. Miller, S.M., commented. upon the serious nature of the oifence, he forboro to cancel accused's license, as travelling was his livelihood. Shortly after 4 p.m. on Saturday, said Senior-Sergeant W. Pender, accused col* lided with a stationary car in Dalton street. He was in an mtoxicated condition and was certilxed unfit to drive by two doctor's. Mr C. G. E. Harker said that accused was a comparatively young man, and his occupation as a traveller sent him all over New Zealahd. On this occasion he had nothing to eat, and after a few drinks he became aftected when he came into the fresh air. He had already made urrangements fully to repair tho car he had damaged. ' ' This is different to cases X have had recently, and therfe has been so mueh warning given in this .district that he should have known," aaid tho | Magiotrate, "To be consistent, I must convict and sentencO him to 14, days' imprisonment. I will liot cancel his licensefin this case, as it would be very hard on his wife and family."
