! WELLINGTON, Last Nighfa ! Replying to Ma remarks, compariais ;bankers and nawies, made a,t Alex I'andra by Hon. R, Semple last week when he said: man who weara dungarees is a damned sight more useful to a nation than a banker who sita at his desk and plays pitch and tosa with the welfare of society." Mr Vj D. S. Edwards, president of the NeW •Zealand Bank Officers' Guild, has fo« warded the following letter to th« Minister: — "Assuming that you have been cow rectly reported, I am Tequested by th« executive committee of the New Ze&j land Bank Officers' Guild, having a membership of 3000 bank officers an^ over 90 per cent. of the staffa of trading banks in the Dominion, to convey tfl you an emphatic protest against th4 intemperate references to bankers made by you. Moreover. it is considered that such language is unworthy of a Ministet of the Crown." '
