Waikanae Woman's Journey to Auckland SEARCH FOR A JOB

AUCKLAND, Last Night. ' Having ridden nearly 400 miles on jhorseback from Waikanae in search of -employment in Auckland, Miss Iris iCaulton. arrived here during the weekjend. She made the journey in only 13 jdays of riding although she was actually [three weeks on the way. Miss Caulton rodo her own horse, Ifiergeant Brown, 12-year-old thorough(bred, and averaged about 32 miles a day. ,She found accommodation at farmhouses on the way and slept for two night8 in empty houses. Farmers gave iher grazing for her horse and she estimates that the trip cost much less than ithe combined fares for herself and her Ihorse. 1 Miss Caulton aaid, when interviewed, 'that the journey was uneventful and : ' her only adventure was when her horse fell into a boghole and managei ro stxuggle out just in time.
