Agreement For One Year Signed
. EUGBY, Feb. 26. A commercial agreement with Cuba was signed at Havana on February 19 and enters into force provisionally as from that date. It provides that TJnit»d Eingdom goods shall he treated in Cuba not less favourably than those of any. country apart from the special treatment accorded to TJnited States goods, and that Cuban goods shall enjoy the most-favoured-nation treatment in the United Kingdom. Cuban duties on certain tTnited Kingdom linen and woollen piece goods have been reduced and the Cuban Government undertake# to consider sympathetically requests for further tariff readjustments. The agreement also provides that British insurance enterprises shall not be subjected to legislation imposing more onerous conditions than those al* ready . applying to the conduct of their Cuban business. The Cuban. Government recognise the peoessity of alleviating the position oi llJnited Bailwaya of Havana, a British nndertaking, and promises sympathetid wonsideration to the request pnt fot? ward to that end. The agreement runs until Decemben 3.937. There was also an exchange of Notes preclnding action which prejudice the present position of .the British shipping in Cuba. , __j
