Three important biograpbical- films are in preparation. Irene l)unne lias been cast as "Madame Curie," in the film of tlxat name. This (•ifers excellent scope for the dramatic documentary film— -even textbooiss fail to dim the brilliance of the womaa who struggled to discover radium for a heedless and ungrateful world. The screen play is based on the life of Madame Gurie written by her daughter. bhe met lrene Dunne in Paris during the film star'a Boliday in Europe and was abie to give Miss Dunne invaluable first-hand infortaation. Let us hope that no liberties are taken .with the life story of this famous women scientist. The second biography also concerns a wqman — ' ' The Private Life of Sarah Bernhardt." In this, Anatol Litwak. famous Continental director, handles liis first film for Uniyersal. The scenario wiil be written from a recently published biography by Basil Woon. ^'The Life of Alfred Nobel"' is as yet ojily in manuscript form, but the author, Rolph Posser, has been placed under contract. to adapt this work for screen purposes. Apar.t from his scientific work,. Nobel was one of the most interesting personalities of his day. At his death he bcqueathe.d to : his coun.' try the interest on over a million pounds. This is distributed as the fainmous Nobel Prizes to men or women who annually make the greatest contribution to science, literature, and peace.
