NEW VIENNESE SINGING STAR
Private showing of a European motion picture jn Hollywood resulted in the arrival recently in the film capital of the Continent's newest film importation, Franzicsa Gahl, youtbful singingViennese actress. Hollywood's system of showing Continental films to studio executives won, Miss Gaal the chance which is expected to send her to' iame on the screen under the Paramount baxme^ Gne of the eight European pictures in which Miss Gaal worked was flashed on one . of Paramount's screens and Adolph Zukor . and other company executives immediately cabled the company' s European representatives • to contract . the actress.- The signing ot Miss Gaal by Paramount followed. a three-cornered race between that company} M.G.M. and Universal, as executives of all three studios viewed the film which brought her to Hollywood's a!ttentio"n. Miss Gaal, the eleventh child m her family, went on the stage in Vienna when she was 13 .years of age, appearing in productions which include "Good ■ News", "The Noste Boys" and • "The Queen's Youth". Six years ago the dark-eyed gitl made her .film debut. Among her European productions _ are "Seandal in Budapest'/j . •'Gzibi", "Spring Parade",.. •"Peter", "Littles Mother", "Gathefine the L^t", "Papr rika" and. "Verbnica". .. .
