Past Grands of Independent Urder Meet ELECTION OF D.D.&M. An enthusiastic meeting • of Past i Grands of the Independent Order of Oddfellows of the Hawke's Bay district was held at Waipukurau pn Wedpesday evening fgr the purpOse of electing the Djstrict Deputy Grand Master for the new terjn. The D.D.G.M., Bro. P. Turkington, presided Over an attendance of 55. He extended a welcome to tlie Past Grands, and thanked the members of lodges generally for the cordial co-oparation and assistanee aecorded him at all timea during his term. The ballot was then taken and rosulted in P.G. Bro. A. M. Dane, of Karamu Lodge 47, Hastings, bemg returned, Bro, Dane i® the popular secretary of his lodge, and well fitted for the ofiftee, having WQtked diligently in the interests of Oddfellowship in this district. Bro. Turkington, D.D.G.M., and other speakers congratulated Bro. Dane on his elevation tp the highest office in the; Hawke's Bay district, appealing to thp brothers to extend their assistanee and loyalty. P.G. Bro, A. M. Dane thanked the speakers for their remarks> and expressed his appreclation of the confidence reposed in him. He would do his - best tp fufther the best inteyestg of thp order generally. Bro/ D. Turkington, D.D.G.M., and Bro. Sargent, Grand Lodge rppresentative, Hawke's Bay district, reminded memberg of the Grand Lodge' session commencing at Palmerston North on March 16, eaying that members would find it Well worth while attending.' A dainty supper was provided by the sisters of Arlington Bebekah Lodge, a vote Of thanks to, them being parried by acclamation.
