Inter-Club Swimming Final RECORD ATTEMPTS FAIL The final series of swimming caruivals for the Rainbow Shield and Baird Pennants was last evening conducted by the Heretaunga Swimming Club. There* was a large • and * enthusiastie gathering * of ' spectators. During the evening thee attempts were made on records, the .first being by Bridge (Mahora) on the junio'r boys' 100 yards record, and the second by Miss P. Campbell (Heretaunga) on the 100 yards intermediate.girls' record, but in •both » cases the time were slower than the records. D. P. Lindsay, of Dannevirke, together with R. Syman, also of Dannevirke, made an attack on the New Zealand record for the 440 yards, but just failed to break this by 1 1-5 secs, his time being 5 mins. 15 1-5 secs. Results: — ' , V .
