REGENT THEATRE

SOBEEOTNG TO-DAT. Freddie Bartholomew, the boy who gave us such a vivid portrayal of ' ' David Copperfield," and "Little Lord Fauntleroy," now appearg as a modern urchin of New York\i lower East Side in "The Devil is & Sisay," wMch opens to-day at the Regent Theatre. Freddie co-Btars with Jackie Cooper and Mickey Rponey. Ian Hunter and Peggy Conklin provide the romantic interest in a touching love story. that enters into the adventurona narrative of the boys. The boys unite in a determined effort to buy a tombstone for the father of one who had recently died in- the electric .chair at Sing Sing. That is the environment in which they live. In acquiring the money for the laudable purpose, they run foul of the poiice and wind up in the juvenUe court. Freddie eventually protects them and also emerges to be instrumenfal in .the capture of a band of city Mllers. Although many of the players are chUdren, it should be mentioned that the film is really meant for adults, and will prove of absorbing interest to them. Short subjects on the same bill include a Metro musical xevue and an Air Mail news.
