Returned Soldiers' Sports And Ball

GREENMEADOWS, This Day. A very popular Ball was held on Saturday night in the Greenmeadows Hall by the Eeturned Soldiers' Assoclation. Many of the large crowd present had also enjoyed the sports in th9 recreation ground at Taradale in the afternoon, held also by the R.S.A. Catholic Plcnlc. On Sunday many local people attended the Catholic picnic at Craggy Eange, Tukituki. Given a Beautiful day, ideal bathing facilities, gamee and a tug-of-war, all spent a happy day. The Eev. Fathers Eiordan and Cullinane joincd in the festivitiea. Enjoyahlo Concert. Oa Tuesday evening th© Methodist Hall was well attended for the concert given by Miss OHve Workman. Mrs (W orkman, and Miss Workman and Miss A. Eobson are to be congratulated on the splendid effort Made, for though nearly all .the performers were children, much of the talent waa outstandiug. Miss Workman is a very versatile artist, reciting, singing, dancing and piaying th© piano with ease. The pianist was Miss A. Eobson, assisted by Miss Joy Burton. Mies* Shirley Colwell supplied the humorous element of . the evening, and everyone f ell in love with Baby Pfefferle, who danced, sang and recitod. Master E. Banks 'and Joe Barnes played the violin, and Master Eonald Steel the mouth-organ. The tap dancers were Miss Elsie Lord and Elsie Pfefferle. Other children who took part in playettes, etc., were Miss Ngaire Hogan,- Clafe Lord, Nola Eichardson and Betty Stewart, Mr Bailey sang "Bock of Ages" for the final tableau, after which Miss Alma Eobson was presented with a gift; of appreciation by Miss Clive Workman.
