(Eeceived 26, 8.45 a.m.) NEW YORK, Feb.25. Dr. Townsend, originator of the Townsend plan, was convicted of contempt of the House by a Federal jury in connection with the inquiry into the Townsend plan in May last, when he left after being sueninoned to give evidence. Senteuce was deferred. The statute imposes a maximum penalty of a 30,000-dollar fine and a year's imprisonment.
