Not Culpable Negligence if a Fire Starts (Received 26, 8.45 a.m.) NEW YORK, Feb. 24. Judge Bohan dismissed ihe man» slaughter indictment againat William Hoffman, who was accused of smoking a cigarette in bed and 6tarting a fire which caused the deaths of five persons in a boarding-housing, holding that the aot of a sleeping man dropping a cigarette and starting a fire did not constitute culpable negligence. Accused was freed.
