A real piece of entertainment is IJniversal'a film, 4 4 Bendezvoua at Midhight, ' ' which opens to-night at the Municipal Theatre, with ftal£/ Bellamy and a charming, young English actress, Valerie Hobson, in tne leading roles. Bellamy in the role of Bob Edmonds, has just replaced Myles Crawford, played by Arthur Vihton, as police tommissioner of New York City, and ja heading an investigation of Crawford 's grafting actiyities while he was in office. Crawford in a desperate effort to save himself, 7frames" Sandra Bogers, played by Valerie Hobson, the new commiesioner'e sweefcheart, and tellis her he will ruin her in the newspapers if she does not persuade Edmonds to stop the investigation. She refuses, and tells Mm she eould kill him wdthout batting an eyelid. And then Crawford is really killed! And every bit of evidenee unearthed points conclusively to Sandra '« guilt. The trials and tribulations oi former Bussian aristocrats who become rel'ugees in America, is one of the many interesting higMights in the plot of 4 4 Strange fWives," also at tEe Municipil. It is one of the most amuslng screen plays of the year, with Boger Pryor and June Clayworth in th© leading roles. Among the outstanding list of supporting players are Esther Balston, Hugh 0 'Connell, Ealph Forbes, Francis L. Sullivan, Cesar Bomero, Valerie Hobson, Phyliss Brooks, Ivau LebedefC, Leslie Fenton and many others.
