Important Amendmeats Made TIME BETWEEN RACES
(By Telegraph-
WELLINGTON, Last Night. A special meeting of the New Zealand Trotting Conferenee was held to-day when, on the motion of ■ .the executive • committee, two important alterations in the xules were made. The first related to the intervals between races, the j executive. desiring that the xule stipujlating a 35 minutes' interval, be rescinIded. ' The president, Mr H. F. Nicoll, said jthat to adhere to the present interval was inflicting a hardship on many elubs who found it impossible with present out-of-date or inadequate equipment, to win a meeting with only 35 minutes between the Taces. The rule was reseinded and the following substituted: — "In no programme, of any race meeting any day of which •fn.lla within the period from Mfty 7 in ouj year to August 31 in. the next. succeeding racing year, shall the starting time of the last race on any such day be fixed for a time later than 20 minutes •before sunset." •The executive 's motion dealing with ihorsemen's Tiding and driving fees, was ialso carried. Eule 245 was deleted, and the follow-; ing substituted:— "In the absence ofi ,any special agreement to the contrary, fees payable to horsemen in relation to the net amount payable to the owner of the winner, shall .be to the winning horseman in no case less than £2 if net amount does not exceed £200, 5 per cent.nm thereon and £2 10s per centum on excess. To the losing horsemen in noi case less than £1; if the net amount. ex-. ceed £30 but not £150, £2; if the net! amount. exceed £150, £3." The rule now brings the fees up toi the 1931 standard required under the' new xegulations.
