"As this ie the ftrst annual general meeting of the elub, it falls to my lot to plftce hefore you a short report on the aotivities of the elub for the year, and I do so with pleasure," said the retiring president Mr J. M. Runciman, "The membership of the club bas* been very well sustained during our first year of operations, and in riew of the Btringent provisiona in our rules with reference to forfeiture of member. ship this .ehows, 1 think, that the oluh has not failed to fulfill at least some of the expectations of the original members. The membership at the olosing of the year was 49, and xt will •be generally agreed that it has been a wise move to restriet membersbip. Pereonaljy I am of the opinion that we could with advantage amend our rules to allow entrance at 21 instead , of 25, as at present provided.

Last Year's MeetiiiRs. "The number of meetings held during the year wero 20, of whieh 11 wero addressed by outside speakers and two by club members, while six were taken up with diseussions. This division j's approximately in accordance with the wisbes of members as evidenced by the answers to the guestiqnnaire taken during the year, "At the end of our year eight -nembers wero in arrears with subscriptions. "At the end of our year eight members were in arrears with subscriptions, Your committee trust that this will be remedied without delay. "While w© have cause to be satisfied with ihe result of the year from the point of yiew of pleasure and adzan. tage to momfcers, yet it is open to serious considsration whether we have fulfilled in any reasonable manner our expectations and ideas from a dvic pomt

of view. This is a jn&tter which should receive further serioug consideration in the poming year. While it is fully appreciated that w;e must move in such matters after proper investigation, yet tp fulfil the ideals to which we all siibacribed at bhe commencement of the club we must be prepared to give mou) community serviee than has been our ciyic eontfibution during the past year. "Your oommittee during the past year has bad yeoman eervices first from Mr 1. L . Prime and later from the present eecretary. A recommendation as to honorarium will be placed before you at a later stage in this meeting. "In conclusion, I am not oyerlooking our avowed principle of honest epeak> ing when I say that all members of your eomnsittee have fully pulled thi-.r weight in thp management of the club affairs. Your committee feels, however, ag we belieye we all felt at the oommenceinent, that new blood should be added to the committee each year, epd we trust that you will later in this meeting see that this is done."-
