The Hon. H. G. Hawkes, M.L.C., South Australia, and Mrs Hawkes are about to pay New Zealand a, visit. Lieutenant-Colonel E. O. Whceler, England, who arrived from Sydney by the Awatea on Monday, is to make a three-months' tour of New Zealand. Mr D, Ma.nn, Hastings Borough Tiaffio Inspector, was Bworn in by tbe Magistrate, Mr J. Miller, S.M., tbis morning as a special constabl©. Dr. and Mrs Seton Norris, Waipawa, are visitors to Wellington for the medical conference. Oount von Ellbrecht, of New i'ork, ai /ived from Sydney by^tbe Aorangi, yesterday. He will remain in the Dominion for about six 1 months. Mr A. C. Crawford, formerly boiough traffic inspector at Hastings, and now Main Highways Inspector at Wellington, is on a visit to Hastings. Sergeant R. G. Wade, at on© time a member of tbe Hastings Police Foree, and now officer-in-charge at Huntly, is on a visit to Hastings and Napier. Major-General A. Solly Flood, who has been visiting New Zealand will sail for England by the Tamaroa next Friday. Mr L. Trevor Williams, of the Federated Malay States, arrived from Sydney by the Awatea on Monday with the intention of putting in. part of his furlough fishing in New Zealand. Mr and Mrs N. F. Forde, who are proininent members of tbe Napier Swimming and Life-Saving Club, were met by their fellow-club members last evening and presented with a handsom©ssiIver tray as a memento lrom tio ciuj. Mr and Mrs Forde are masing tljcir home in Dunedin in future. Mr E: D. Berry, on behalf of tbe members, wished them the best of luck in their new sphere.
