The Rangitata. The New Zealand Shipping Co., advises that its m.v. Rangitata, .which left London on Eebruary 4, sailed from Panama during the afternoon of Eebruary 20. Short Sessiori. With ' only two prosecutions on the list and a small number of Undefended civil'oases, this moruiug's sitting at the Hastings Magistrate's Court was an unusually brief one, proceedings being completed well within an hour. Bowling at Rotorua. Messrs J. Flanders and S. Cummins, members of the Havelock North Bowling Club, who are participating in the Rotorua pairs tournament, did very ivell the first day, gaining two wins out oi; the three games played. There are 55 pairs competing at the tournament. Children's Excursion. Children from the Maramau, Ormondville and Makotuku schools arrived in Napier by a special excursion train at 10.25 this morning, and will remain until d.15 this evening. Upon arrival most of them made for the Marine Patade, and despite the dull weather an enjoyable time was spent in swimming and sightseeing. The usual faeilities, such as hot water, free milk and buns and free use of the baths, were provided by the Napier Borough Couned for the 100 children and the several pai'ents who accompanied them. Reason for Resignation. An explanation of the reasons fox his resignation as the Waipukurau Borough Council's representa]bive on the Waipawa Hospital Board is given by Mr B. A. G. Atkins in a letter to the council. Mr Atkins says in his letter that his reason for resigning is that he will be leaving New Zealand in March and will be away for several months. Owing to .the special circumstances that have now arisen in connection. with the board's affairs, and in view of the fact that an election will be held early next year, he has thought it only right tbe borough should have an active representative on th© board during his absence. Maraekakaho Valley Powor. The possibilities of r^ticulating the Maraekakaho Volley district are to be considered further by the Hawke's Bay Electric Power Board at a meeting to be held at Maraekakaho to-morrow week. At yesterday's meeting of the board it was decided that the chairman, Mr T. E. Cross, the managingsecretary, Mr H. H. Wylie, the engineer, Mr H. L. Benjamin, and Mr R. Harding should meet the settlers to discuss the position, Raiiway Gonstruoticn Camp. The raiiway construction camp which nas for some time been at Waipunga has now been removed to Waikoau. There has also been a large increase in the number of men in the camp. In addition to tbe tank engine already engaged in ballasting work at Waikoau, a*larger locomotive of the B.B. type, eapable of hauling 250 tons of ballast at one time, has been dispatched from Napier for service at Waikoau, making aa total of three locomotives engaged in the area in the removal of spoil and ballasting work.
