Rissington Meeting

The Rissington Womeu's Institute held its first meeting of the year at Omatea and, owing to the absence of the president, Miss Speneer was voted to the chair. After welcoming the members, Miss Speneer reminded the institute this was the sixteenth birthday. Reference was made to the great loss the institutes had sustained in the death of Mrs Bibby ' and a vote of sympathy was passfed with her relatives. A letter was read from Miss King thanking the members for a parcel of clothing received for the Red Cross. Letters were also read from the Northern Hawke 's Bay Federation in connection with competitions; also reminding members to get as much history as they could of their homes and district to be sent in as soon as possible. A round-table conference was held to get suggestions for the making -of next year's programmes, Miss Speneer mentioned that the institute was losing a member, Mrs Brodie, who is leaving the district, and that they were all very sorry to lose her. Nominatiops were taken for the committee and members were reminded of the annual meeting to be held on March 9 instead of March 2. Mrs Hutchinson and Miss Speneer were hostesses.
