The Awatoto Block STEPS TOBE TAKEN ' Steps aTe to be taken to create the "Awatoto bloek a speeial diainage district in order to provide adequate drainage for the area it embraces. The annual cost of maintenance is estijcated at £150, and yesterday the Napier Harbour Board decided to pay one-third of the annual cost. The chairman of the board, Mr T. M. Geddis, said that the position recrnireci to be taken up not only by the boar,d but also by its tenants, the Maraenui Golf Club, the Napier Secondary Education Board and the Hawke's Bay County Couneil. By their nndertaking the dfainage in a proper manner the interests of both the board and its tenants would be safeguarded. The board, in agreeing to pay onethird of the cost instead of its allocation of only £2 13/6, had taken a broad view of the position. It was, however, incumbent upon the settlers to form a drainage district. A conferenee was shortly to be held among those interetted, and it was hoped that it would. be a success. The settlers would be well advised to assjst in bringing about the speeial drainage district, as a T©§ult of which they would reeeive qoadderable benefit.
