Why Mr Hamilton Missed The Meeting DELAYED ADVICE

INVERCARGILL, Last Night. "There js only one further point which in fairness to myself I would like to refer to," said the Leader of the Opposition (Hon. Adam Hamilton) to-night in commenting on the Hon. R.' Semple's remarks at Queenstown. "Mr Bempl© said he had advised. »e on January 19 that he was visiting Southland. This adviee" was hy telegram. He also said that he advised me on February 5 that he had decided to change his itinerary, ' but he did not say fchat this advice was by letter. Had this advice been by telegram, which is the usual Ministerial niethod of advising a member, especially when there is urgency, I would have received this advice two days before I left for Wellington. I could tben have arranged his itinerary before I lef't Invercargill. "Although he wrote the letter on February 5," added Mr Hamilton, "I did not reeeive it until I reached Wellington. This was his fault, not mine, and I, too, was put to some unnecessary trouble by the Minister' s neglect to wire me immediately he decided to change his plans. I, however, am not complaining.
