ATTACK LACKED STING
Englishmen's Match Against Vktoria HASSETT'S ARTISTRY (Received 22, 11.30 a.m.) CSYDNEY, Feb. 22. The Sydney Morning Hefald's cricket winter, commenting on the mateh between England and Yictoria, says: "Gregory's play laoked some of the dash of his century innings against ifingland in the first VictoriaU inatch, but his dei'ence .wa^ wonderfully soUfld. He appeared to aim at developing of his stroke play, and he was more Versatile than in bis previous inniiigs. A satisfactory feature was tbat be was not content to play baek, but left tbe crease, using his feet to Verity, who had the field spread to stop hard drives. "Lee also batted well, but ihe most attractive innings of the match so far tvas played by the consistent 22-year-old right-hander, Hassett, who, in bis first appearahce against the Englishmen, impressed them by his artistry and confidence. "The Englisb attack was varied, but lacked sting. Robins was caref-ul not to overwork the Test bowlers, especially Vooe. (See page 8 for details.)
