Life-Saving Teams Kept Busy

AUCKLAND, This Day. The surf catnival, attettded by several thousand people, at Piha, West Coast, was abruptly abandoned shortly after the commencement yesterday to enable the Australian and New Zealand teams to assist bathers in . difficulties. During the day 16 reseues Were carried out, four cases needing resuscitation on the beach, and two others further assistance in the elub-house. The manager of the Australian t«*m, Mr Cameron, expressed the opinion that the New Zealand beaehes should be more firmly controlled and bathers not ailowed to go beyond a certain •oue, as was the pntelice in Australia,
