HOME LEAGUE HAVE OPENING MEETING
The Hastings Home League held their opening meeting for 1937 last Wednesday in the Salvation Army Young People 's Hall, Lyndon road. The attendance of old and now members was good and all were given a welcome by Adjutant Lamberton. After the opening hymn and prayer the roll was called. The thrift club was opened, Mrs Plumly again holding the position of thrift club officer with Major Wheeler assisting during the absence of Mrs Cook, senr. Afternoon tea was served by Mrs Vcnables and helpers and then a special welcome was given Mrs Brigadier Smith, a visitor from Wellington, who in a very fitting way thanked the members for their Irindness in welcoming her and giving her the opportunity to lead the League meeting next week. ( The League held their annual picnic at Napier and this proved a great success. Several games wero played, Mrs Ryfier, jnr., being • the lucky meniber to secure the prlzes for the ekipping and table croquet competition. Members were asked to not.e the change of meeting place for the meetings which take place every Wednesday at 2.30.
