Three micrcphones are used in the new £100,000 Arsenal Football Club stanrl, London, in conneetion with the hnge amjuifying equipment, which is the largest ever fitted to a football ground. One microphone is situated in the directors' box, one in the directors' view box, and the third in the control office. The tirst two are used for addressing tlie erowd, and the third is used by police for crowd control, stand packing and S.O.S. purposes. Seventeen loud speakers are in use, distribnted over tbe ground at vantage points to enteure the utmost distributioa. Two s'leakers are mounted at, each of Ihe %
three gates, and are used for erowd coiitrol. The ampliher is housed under the roof of the new stand in a special sound -proof and vibrationless eabin. One engineer is constantly on duty ir this cabin. 'to manipulate the conttols, and is in direct communieation With all mierophones by telephonO.
