PAN-AMERICAN PLANES MAY NOT COME TO N.Z.
Talk of Diversion Through New Caledonia (Received 20, 8.45 a.m.) SYDNEY, Feb. 19. The Sun says that Pan-American Airways is considering diverting the proposed new air route throUgh New Caledonia to Australia instead of through New Zealand. It adds: "In well-informed circles in Sydney it is also believed that COlonei Lindbergh, technieai adviser to the company, ihay come to Australia and possiblly visit New zoaland and New Caledonia. Favotirable cottSideration has been given the altemative route as Via New Caledonia the trip to Australia would be shorter. It is understood that tentative approaches have been made to the French Govemment, ' which owns New Caledonia."
