i m mm hihi i IIISI YICE-REGAL The Governor-General, Lord Gftiway, arrived in Auckland yesterday after a coastal trip in the Government lighthouse steamer Matai, during which he spent several days deep-sea fishing oif Cape Brett. His ExcellenCy will leave for Wellington on official businesa on Monday evening, and expects to return to Auckland on Thursday.
Mr I L. Prime, Napier, left yesterday on a visit to Auckland. Mr ,G. H. Henderson was admitted aa a member of the Hastings llotary Club at yesteruaj's meeting. Mr P. W. Lee, of the staff of the Public Trust Office, Waipukurau, has received notice of his transfer to Wellington. Tbe Rev. Fatker Leo Spring, of St. Patrick's Church. Napier, who has been visiting the South Islafid, is expected to return to Napier to-night. Flight-Lieutenant W. F. Pharazyn, formerly of Havelock North, is posted to thei Royal Air Force Staff Gollege* AndoverJ for the staff course*. Mr Norman E. Biookes, president of the Lawn Texmis Association of Ausfcralia, will leave Melbourne for England next week. He will, on bebalf oi fche association, negotiate for a visit of several intemational champions, inclucL ing G. von Cramm. Tbe Rev. Father M. Mulcahay, of Wellington, wbo has recently returned from Rome where he has been furfchering his studies, has taken up his duties on the teaching staff of Mount St. Mary's Mission Station, Greenmeadows. Mr G. tJonnal, wbo has been manuger of the Union Bank of Australia at Martinborough for the past four years, has received advice of his promotion to the position of fnanager at Te Awamutu. • He will leave Martinborough at the end of the month. Mir D. R. Matheson, of the Wellington branch of the bank, will succeed Mr Cbnnal. Mr A. J. Brown, a former Aucklund architect, has been appointed chaii'man of the Housing Improvement Advisory Oommittee of New South Wales. The committee has. been set up under legielation passed last year, and will advise the State Government on comprehensive measures for housing improvements. Mr C. J. Hamblin, formerly of Auckland, who has been acting-fields siiperintendent of. the Department of Agriculture at Palmerston North, haa been appointed to the position of superintendent, following the retirement of Mr W. J. McCullock. He will control the area extending across the North island from Taranaki to East Cape.
