GRANDMOTHERS' DAY AT BAY VIEW INSTITUTE
Bay View Women 'g Institute held its first meeting of 1937 on Wednesday, February 10, at which there was a good attendance. After the Institnte song, members were asked to remain standing (in sympathy of the late Mrs. Bibby, of Waipawa. The annual meeting will be held on Tuesday, March 2, owing to Mrs. Kelso 's group meeting the following week. It was decided that the secretary should send a congratulatory lefcter to Miss . Spencer. Alice Saunders, a new Institute baby, was presented with a bank box, and Mrs. Wilson with a wedding gift from the members, This was a special meeting for grandmothers, and each was presented with a little posy in the Institute tonings. Mrs. Milne, on behalf of the grandmothers, thanked the members. for their gifts and good wishes. The competition, "Something New from Something Old," was won by. Mrs. Scott, Mrs. Les Staniland being second, and Mrs. Home third. Tho flower competition was won by Mrs. Les Staniland, Mrs. Eogers gaining second place. Miss Eileen Morris, Napier, was then , introduced and gave a very interesting talk on, her trip in the yacht Te Kapunga. She was accorded a very hearty vote of thanks, the members showing their appreciation: by loud ap•plause. She was also presented with a pretty posy. ' . A dainty af ternoon tea was then sorved by the hostesses, Mesdames ScOtt, McKenhie and Stratford. The hostesses competition was won by Mrs. Horne. The singing of ' the-National Anthem brought a happy af ternoon. to a close.
