(Beceived 19, 11.45 a.m,) LGNDON, Feb. 18. In responding to the toast of Imperial Trade at the Warrant-Holderis ' dinner of the New Zealand National Mortgage Agency Co.( the Hon W. Nasli, New Zealand Minister pf Finance, disclosed that he had signed a contract on behalf of New Zealand producers with. British shipping cornpanies, to which £4,000,00*0 had beon paid on account of New Zealand 's trade. Such arrangements depentted upon reciproeity and co-Operatjon in th« fullest sense, The New Zealand Office informed the Australian Associated Brese that Mr Nash had signed a contract for threa years at a 24 per cent. increas.e. It is ostimated £3,600,000 per annum is iuvolved on a tonnage basis for the transport of refrigerated foodstuSs in British ships, This is apart from freight payments on weol and other non-refrigerable cargoes, Mr Nash emphasised that in the period 1932-36 the four Dominions had increased the value of their purchases from Britain by £47,000.000, while the. increase in the "whole of nqrth Rurqpe was only £17,000,000. Mr Nash visited the Ariel works, Birmiugham, where he waa originally office boy and rose to he chief of the costing depflrtment. He talked with old employees. Later he was a guest of tha Birmingham Chamber of Commerce at a priyate dinner. .
