TIKOKINO SPORTS

The Tikokino Sports Glttb's &iuiual sports meeting will be held bn Mathew's Memofial Park on Eaeter Saturday, March 27. The events cover a wide range of attractions. The popularity of this meeting always draws a large contingent of runners and cyfelists from Napier and Hastings, one of the magneis being the T. Dunn silver cup, which has to be won twice, not necessarily at COnsectitlve meetings. It is awhrded to the competitor gaining most pOints in all the races. The chopping and sawing events are always a source of great interest. This ' year's programme includes a 15in. .open St&nding chop with prizes of £10, £15, ahd £2 10/-. Also the 12in. Gwavas maire jigger chop, with prizes of £10 and Silver oup, £5, and £2. Outstanding in the horse events is the opea leaping match, carrying the R. Mathews Memorial Oup of the value of £15 15/- (to be won twice in succession or three times at intervals), also £15 and a miniature cup. Last vear ihe trophy donated by Mr. Eddy for the pony jump was won eutright and it has been RCplaced by a silver cup of the value of £10 10/- presented by Mr. P. F« Wall, of Hatuma. Other features on this attractive programme are Highland dancing, gi-ey-hound and tin-hare racing, and boxing under the ausplces of the Waipukurau Boxing Club. FaVoured with a fine day the club should add another mark to its long record of suceessful meetings.
