Napier Congratulaies Mrs T. H. Lowry MAYOR'S TRIBUTE Warm congratuiations upon her re* cent appointment as presideiit of the New Zeaiand bTaneh oi the Red Cioss Society Were beStoWed upon Mi'S T. H. Lowry, o£ OkaWa, by the Mayor oi Napier, Mt G» O. Morse, at a Wellattended gathering of Napier residents last night. He expressed the view that the oi'ganisation Was iortunate ih bavj ing so capable a leader, and he ielt sure that with Mrs Lowry at the helm the Wovement woiild progress from strength to strentgh. "It is a very great pleasure indeed for us to exteiid our congratuiations to Mrs Lowry,'5 he said. "I took an early opportunity of congratulatiflg her on beiialf of the civio authorities oi Napier, but We have since felt. that 'that was not enough, and tliat we ought to meet her in person to tell her what we feeh'5 Addressitig Ml's LoWry, he said: "We know thaf you have cottle back from overseas with first-hand knowledge oi what is required to help the movement in New Zeaiand, and we feel cotthdent that yoti cab put the Red Oross on the iooting it should be ott. "On behali of the citizens oi Napier 1 extend to you our most hearty congratuiations, and we hope that your WOrk will be a iabour oi pleasure and a guide to all the Red Cross people with whOitt you come in contaet." Mrs Lowj-y tlianked Mr Morse brfefly for his words adding that since sbe Was really a Napier giri she lelfc. that that night she had come back te her hcrnie towtt.
