Waipawa Council Decides Lay-out for Extensive Improvements .

WAIPAWA, This Day. To enable work on the site of the Neliie Jull Park to proce'ed without dblay • so tliat' tbe' cOuncil may take advantage of the conditions ■ for employr ment of labour .under'the No. 13 schemo under - which -the Einployment' Board furnishes a substantial subsidy, mem-. bers of tho Waipawa' Borough Council hqld a meeting on the ground to decide on the main lines of the lay-out of the park. The concrete' steps on the Waverley street boundary have now been completed, coniiection .with the main entrance in High street being given by a wide pathway. In the centre of the park a lily pond has been -built. When the surrcunding area has been turfed, the pond should provide an attractive setting. . Running in from the High street entrance will be a wjde semi-circular drive 16 feet wide,' which will emerge on the northern boundary of the park. A garden plot, set off with a low stone wall, will' face the street frontage. On the children's section there will be a paddlihg pool about 30 feet in length. The swings and round-about now in the domain will be transferred there. Ihe. work is now proceeding and the spalls for the erectiqn of the wall have been carted to the ground. When completed the park will be a decided. asset 10 the town. Portion of' the area is bemg top-dressed.- .
