NELSON, Last Night. "A« eaeh session goes you bands Improve," aaid the judge, Mr. Kerry, Wter hearing seven bands in the first "A grade test selection to-night. Tiro large solo elasses were judged Jthis morning in ihe band contest. The Jjudge, Mr. Kerry, said that he could ^felaim to know the set euphonium piece, Tra® a pupil of , the composer, and „ had played it twice a week for six years. He criticised the playing of the jeadeiaa, and said the thing was lack- ^ introduction and theme, whieh jrequired warmth of tono and eolour. Besults were:— V.
