New Civet Gat Species Discovered in Panama
PHILADELPHIA- — A new species. of civet cat, discovered by an expedition in Panama of the Academy of'Natural Sciences of Philadelphia, h'as " been nained ' 'Bassaricyon pauli," in honour, of A. J. Drexel Paul Jr., who accompanied the expedition. . The name'is bestowed on the animals in the latest,, scientific publication of the academy by Eobert K. Enders of the" zoological department of - Swath* more College. ' Dr. Enders, who wai a member of 'the expedition, is also on the editprial advisory committee of the academy 's new popular magazine, Frontiers. - • ' ■ • The civet- cats were discovered in thehilly ^country.of the Province of de Chiriqui. in.. Panama. -The native name for them is "Hoo-Hoo-Nah. "
