COUNCIL v PRESS

Cficket Match Pjayed in Napier WIN FOR THE BOROUGH Representatives of the Napier Borough Council and the Pr'ess of Napier met yesterday afternoon in a cricket match at Nelson Park, Napier. A close game resulted ih a win for the council by one wicket. The Press team had first use of the wicket, and with the help of a good score by D. A. Rees and another by C. Geddis finished the innings in two hours with 188 runs on the board. Although two council wickets went cheaply, a stand by K. Phillips and A. S. Boggs, and later by Robinson when Phillips went, altered the aspeet of the game. The issue again became interesting when the remaining wickets went cheaply, but at the close of play there Was still one wicket to fall, with the council eight runs in the lead. Details: — . .
