Ruakituri Meeting

The 47th meeting of the Ruakituri Women's Institute was held on Saturday in the Institute room, which was tastefully decorated with mixed flowers from the Institute garden. Mrs Berry, vice-president, presided ovej: a good attendance of members and apologised for the absence of the president, Mrs Spence, and the treasurer, Mrs Richards, both of whom were absent through illness. Two new members were enrolled, Of money which had been raised by three of the members £4, was given to buy new books for the library and £1 towards the typewriter which was now , the sole property of this Institute. The roll call. "Where I would like to spend a holiday in England, and why" was well responded to and proved London to be the most popular part. Members were greatly entertained by a play.reading of "Early Birds" by Mesdames Berry, Winder, Mairs, ! Morice and Miss Spence. Two songs i by Mrs Nolan were also much enjoyed. I There wero a good number of entries for the competition, the best programme for six months, which are yet to be judged. A very happy meeting was closed with community singing and > fbe National Anthem. ' t
