A final reminder of the inter-club carnival to be held in the Maddison Batbs to-night by the Heretaunga club is given in tbis issue. Th© Fergusson Cup contest between th© Gisborne aud Heretaunga clubs will form part of the programme, and from tbe performauces at the Hawke's Bay championships the visitors look tbe favourites. A lot depends, however, on their polo ability, of whicb not much is known. Tbe final decision has invariably rested on the polo match, so a great game shouid. ensue. As advertised elsewhere in this issue, the citizens of Hastings and surrounding distriets are cordially invited by tjie Mayor of Hastings to attend tomorrow night's meeting in th© Borough Council Chamber-s, when Mrs T. H. Lowry (Dominion president oi the Red Cross Society) and Sister Stringer will be the principal speakers. At this meeting, arrangements will be discussed regarding the forthcoming visit of M. de Gielgud, who is attached to th© Secretariat of the League of Red Cross Societies in Paris Consideration will also be given to tbe proposal jbat a National Coronation appeal shouid be made for Red Crqss funds. As tbe meeting shouid be of especial interest to all churches, Societies and institutions in this district, the attendance of representatives and members is particularly urged.
