PARTY AT OTANE TO SAY FAREWELL TO MISS ANDERTON

A delightfully pleasant time was spent in the Otane Town Hall on Saturday evening when Miss Joyce Anderton, who is leaving for Taihape, was farewelled by her many friends. Dancing occupied the major portion of tha evening and for thiB, music was supplied by Mrs Meta and Mr Mill, extras being contributed by Miss Colquhoun and Mr R. Langridge on the piano-accordion. Miss Yona August delighted all preBent with her tap dancing, Mr Warren August playing the musiic for these items. Mr T. 13. Colquhoun carried out the duties of M.O. Prior to a delicious supper being server Mr Voyce aeked MisB Anderton to accept a choice tea set and tea waggon, aocompanied by the best wishes of her friends for her future happiness, and expressed the hope that in the not-too-distant future she would come back to live in Otane. Mr Barrie and Mr Colquhoun also spoke of the many likeable qualities of the departing guest, expressing regret at her impending departure. Mr R. Ashhy, on behalf of Miss Anderton, thanked those present for the gifts and kind ©xpressions of appreciation. * The singing of "Auld Lang Syne" and the National Anthem, shortly hefore midnight brought to a close a particularly bright, enjoyable gathering.
