INTER-CLUB CROQUET

There was a large gathering of Napier and United croquet players at the Nelson Park lawns, Napier, wlien games were played for the Watkins Challenge Shield. Players and visitors wer© entertained at afternoon tea by the iadies of the United club. The united club successfully defended the shield against the challengers, Napier Croquet Club. The details are as follow. Napier players being mentioned first: — Mrs Oliver and Miss Lydford (5$) lost to Mrs Freedraan and Mrs Mitchell (2), 20 — 26, 26—15. Mesdames Corner and Houseman (6) lost to Mesdames Hobbs and Morris (6), 21; — 26, 11—26.
