Helpless in Cyclone With Broken Rudder CREW OF 40 CHINESE

(Keceivea 10, iu.io a.m.; BRISBANE, Feb. 15. S.O.S. calls have been received from the stearner Shousing (4920 tons), which is believed to be drifting helplessly with a broken rudder in a cyclone 700 or 800 miles easfc of Cairns. The vessel is believed to be north of Bampton Reef, beyond Willie lsland. Several vessels, including the steamers Nellors and China Exporter, are hurrying to give assistance. The JShousing is bound from Ocean lsland "to Melbourne and is carryiug a fuli cargo of phosphates. The vessel has a Chinese crew of 40 and Japanese officers, being commanded by Captain Kusalo. The Shousing was formerlv kuown as the Pauline, Daylina, Strabaand aud Bright Vega, and is owned by Japanese interests in China. The present agents for the vessel are the British Phosphate Commis-^ flion.
