Hutchinson, of Rissington, is praetically decided upon, steps having been taken for the gazetting of the pioposed board. The personnel of the board has aetually been selectedi The membei's will be Mrs Hutchinson, Messrs E. L. Cullen, M.P., F. R. Burnley, Commis-ion-er of Crown Lands, Absolum, junr., G. Turner, of Puketitiri, F. E. Smith, of Hastings, and Dr. A. G. Clark, of Napier. A visit was made recently to the area concerned and a thorough inspection was made, tentative arvangements for its preservation and safeguard being discussed. ' / It was announced that the offer by Mr and Mrs Hutchinson had been aecepted by the Government and the pro.perty trausferred. Containing approximately 80 acres of virgin bush and grasslands to the extent of 200 acres, the gitt is a magmficent one, and in timo the area should be one of the outstandmg scenic reserves in. the district. It is easy of access to the public, for the farming area bounds the main Napier-Puketitiri road and also a byroad. Some conception of the value of the property can be gleaned from the fact that the timber alone in the bush block would be worth several thousands of pounds in royalties. Work is to be under taken in the very near future which will result in the safeguarding ' of the bush and the utilisation of the open grasslands, the revenue from which, it is propused, will be used for the development of the scenic reserve.
